I have this thing running an old car cooler fan motor off 12 V set in a steel box with a switch on the supply side. This is working well and I haven't managed to overload or break it yet despite stalling the motor. It's a common oscillator + low-side (cuts negative line) transistor combo with a PTC over current protector. Cycle time seems to be about 40 us, meaning 25 kHz switching. There is no whine audible to me. The pot has an on-off switch. It seems to go full-on at the top of the range according to my scope, but the bottom end is closer to 10% dut than 0%. Of course the off switch puts you to 0%, so it's quite honest in that sense. Handy little thing.
Top quality little units, I've got three of these running small motors from lights to toys. I recommend these to anyone
This is the second lot I have bought . They arrived in only 2 weeks to the UK and they all work perfectly I couldnt make them for the price I paid so I am a happy chappie They fit inside my model trains with room to spare
I use them to control motors in the 3v to 6v range - couple of 12v, too. They work great, are extremely easy to use and just generally very handy to have around - control motors, led brightness, etc. built-in on/off switch! Using them to convert old-style 6v flashlight-lanterns to vari-bright high efficiency led illuminators! OMG! Ready for the Zombie Apocalypse / Brownouts / Blackouts! WOOT WOOT!! If you're going to buy ONE, buy at least three but you'll probably find uses for 10 (and that carries a nice discount!) Gonna stick one of these on a ribbitybopbop lil' N-scale train layout for my Gee-Dawders...word.
not tested yet, seems proper
