I was assuming there other small chip on there was for USB to serial but it is not. According to the schematic it seems to only be used as a buffer. The firmware it comes with does not respond on the serial interface. I can connect to WiFi though. nmap shows ports 5060 32498 and 55165 filtered for tcp. You cannot program it through the provided pins because there is no reset. Removing esp8266 I tried to program directly with 3V3 FTDI but failed. This is too much work. Better to get the wemos.

Since there comes no documentation at all with it you exactly have to know what to do with it. 'Out of the box' it doesn't work. I assume I'm having more than just basic skills and haven't got it running now. I would have given it 5 stars if there would be some kind of at least basic documentation.
