I use the timer on a boat where a pump has to run sometimes for 2 minutes. This time is too long to wait for, so it often happens thati fotget to swich it off, so the pump runs for hours, wich is bad for the pump. I connected it slightly different, the standby consumption is now zero! This works only if the item to be switched work on 12v, same as the power for this timer. First connect as indicated, and set the timing you need. Then connect the power supply for the timer (+12v) to the same connection as where you connect the load. Also connect the trigger to the same point. If you switch on the power (in my case the existing switch) and off after a second or so, the load (pump) wil be on for for the selected time! I am verry happy with this excellent and cheap item! I will try later to upload a picture of how to connect.
