Well first let me say that you should buy one. But it probably will not work just out of the box.... you need to check the the assembly and how it is put together and make sure everything is just right! Magnets , brushes , slip commutation ring, bearing all need to be verified. OK after all is good to test it all you need is fresh D size battery. Plus to Red , minus to Black, give it a little spin to help it get started and watch it go! The kids loved it and it shows how to pay attention to the little details..... very very good learning machine. Use my photo for guidance.
