We previously used a towel to lift our 83 lb lab up to the SUV hatch. The Xl size carrier fits snug with ample velcro to hold it tight around the dog making the lift less precarious. The only negative would be the straps are a little to long but can be easily remedied by tying each strap into a knot. It takes 2 to lift our dog. Much better than a towel.
