Have a few of these that I use for very portable field chargers. They do seem to need QC 2 or similar 9V usb input to charge at rated charge current (1A max) or to charge 3s reliably. You will find they report an undefined error message otherwise. My only complaint is that they do not show what cell voltage or current is set at power on, this forces you to go through the setup menu to check.
