Dookie I think the best way to troubleshoot this problem is to remove the display and test all segments one by one using a power supply and eventually a series resistor . Google the partnumber of the display for connections . I once had a similar display with a kind of "leakage fail"( segments lit while not powered ) . The led problem might be a processor issue (multiplexing problem) Hope this helps , happy 2021 !Bob ( retired avionics repair tech )

Dookie I tried to figure it out , and think the 1k resistors are R3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10. I compared with another rotating clock schematic(but the resistors are 470 Ohms). The 10k resistors connect to the base of Q1 (R11) and the LDR_NTC(R1,R2). Remaining problem : PCB print shows"RT1 , RT2" .so which one is the NTC and which one the LDR ....? Solution is to solder them temporarely and test , if the temp reading is erronic and the brightness control does not work swap them :-) Hope this helps :-) Google EC1515 schematic and use as guideline Bob
