brian it looks repairable. don't try gluing it yourself though. go to a musical instrument shop, they will fix it. it looks like delamanation.
brian if it doesn't fit on a 5mm shaft say like a electric motor axial, get a small hex screwdriver and unwind the screws on the side, i think they might be a bit tight, but thats ok. thats normal. it is so you can adjust it.
