Unit requires 4 AAA batteries. I inserted the 4 batteries and the light came on immediately as I held it in my hand. I placed the light inside a kitchen cabinet and closed the cabinet door. The light extinguished in 15 seconds. I opened the cabinet and instantly the light came on. I will mount the light in a Pantry but I used the cabinet as a convenient test site. I had a couple of those 3 LED round units you can find at your local hardware store and they suck compared to this one - they didn't have motion sensing and weren't nearly as bright, not to mention the mount for them broke easily. I'm buying a couple more of these!

They work great in our pantry closet. We got 2 of them. They turn on as soon as you open a door an they sense some movement. Thinking of getting some more.

The induction distance is not really 3-5 meters but it's ok, The 'magnet' is not exactly what I was expecting either. Having said that I'm quite happy with the value for the money as it looks good quality. Let's see the battery life span.
