The device connects to an existing WiFi network and it then creates a new WiFi network of its own. The name of this new WiFi network will be the name of the existing one with "_plus" added at the end. The password will be the same as the existing one. In order to make it work I had to: 1) install the "Mi Home" application (ignore the QR code on the back of the package: it lead me to an "Holiday-Home rental" app ?!?). By the way: I could only install it on my android phone, not on my tablet 2) (probably not needed) connect to the already existing WiFi (the one you want to extend) 3) enable bluetooth (in my case, I also made it visible to external devices for a few minutes, but I do not know whether this is mandatory) 4) plug the Xiaomy WiFi Extender 2 into a suitable USB socket (which is only needed for powering the device: you can use a generic USB phone charger, assuming it has a standard USB-A female connector) 5) wait a few seconds until the yellow light on the Xiaomi starts to flash 6) (not mandatory) to stay on the safe side, I decided to reset the device: using a small metallic "paper clip", I pressed the switch at the bottom of the reset hole and kept it pressed for about 3 seconds (you can release it as soon as the yellow light stops flashing), now wait some more for the yellow light to resume flashing 7) start the "Mi Home" app. You will have to register on the Xiaomi site. Select e.g. "China" or "Corea" as your region (not "Europe"! If you do, the device won't work!) and simply wait until the "new device detected: Xiaomi repeater 2" message is shown on the phone (this takes some time). If it does not appear after 1-2 minutes, you can try and search for it "locally", do not use the "manual" add-device procedure since the WiFi repeater is unfortunately not listed there. Once recognised follow the obvious on-screen buttons. This will lead you to name the WiFi net you want to extend along with its password. 8) in my case, after having input the existing WiFi data, the final procedure (involving 3 automated steps) failed on the last item. However, the new WiFi net was successfully created - that is: the device was working Ok. 9) connect to the new WiFi network and verify that you have access to, say, a web page or whatever you are using your WiFi for 10) you may now turn off Bluetooth on your phone (if you are not using it for something else)
