Const13 The product can be powered in three ways : 1) By placing 3 18650 batteries in the battery department of the doorbell OR 2) By connecting the two terminals at the back of the video doorbell to 16-24V AC. Be carefull the video doorbell will be fried if you put over 24v AC. Also , if you supply less than 16V AC it will not function properly especially at night when needs more power 3) By connecting it to 5v dc (using the micro usb at the top of the video doorbell)

aamirjanyan The doorbell will not work without batteries even if you connect the external power supply. First you have to insert batteries then you can connect the external power supply. It will not damage the device.
