The menu was at first only in Chinese. I could connect the device with the Xiaomi app (through WiFi) by chosing "China" as the region, as explained elsewhere. After updating the firmware in the cooker (through the Xiaomi app to 2.1.0.0029) the menu in display of the cooker is also in English, although other messages are still in Chinese. You cannot set the required temperature directly. You can define a specific custom mode though, set the required temperature in this mode and upload the mode to the cooker. From then on you can select this mode on the cooker. When defining a custom mode you can set the temperature between 40 and 80 and between 110 and 190 degrees celcius. You cannot set temperatures between 80 and 110 though. This is very irritating, since for slowcooking I often would like to be able to set temperatures between 80 and 95. The actual temperature of the cooking process is monitored through a sensor which pushes against the bottum of the pan resting on the cooker. This apparently works reasonable well with a filled pan (suitable for induction cooking of course). When the pan is (almost) empty the temperature tends to overshoot though and the temperature at the rest of the bottum of the pan (where the bottum is heated) might be higher than the temperature at the center (where the sensor is located). In a stable situation with a non-empty pan the actual temperature is usually a bit higher than the required temperature (e.g. 80-85 when set to 80). When using the power mode instead of setting the temperature there apparantly is a build-in limit of 230 degrees celcius. When placing an empty pan on the cooker on full power the temperature does not rise above 230 degrees while the power consumption decreases. I would very much appreciate if the MI cooker could also be set to temperatures between 80 and 110 debgrees celcius. And it would be nice if there would be a mode where the temperature could be simply controlled by turning the knob.
