Works great on 220. Does not work on 110 although it came with a 110 adapter. So far I have tried the stick welding and the plasma cutting. at about 10 psi and 60% power I cut a 1/8 strap. My first ever try at plasma cutting so I need to learn a bit. Since my other welders were wired for 220V 50A, I made up a cord and breakers to adapt down to 20A. I did not like the short power cord to I made a new power cord out of 12/3 SO cord. it was very easy to replace the power cord.

Fun kit but flawed design. After 4 days on with no load it died. More precisely one or more of the op-amps died. The opamops are rated for 30v max supply. The rectified transformer voltage is over 30 volts and the negative rail is biased about -5 volts, so the op am rating is exceeded. I cut a few traces and added a current limited 24V supply off the fan regulator with 100 ohm resistor and a 47uf capacitor. I only get about 20v out now, but it should last forever! Shown in my photos, I have installed it in a case from Banggood along with a digital meter. You need to also purchase the heatsink for the final drive transistor.

The screws can not be used to mount the fan to the heatsink as far as I could figure out. The fan is a bit louder than I like. I ended up using a larger slower 24 v fan. the heatsink does fit perfectly in the holed and mount the transistor in the power supply kit.

Q: Can it be run from a Mac? or is the software PC only?

jmltoys I am using mac and raspberry pi to drive it, use inkscape software and j phononics laser plug-in. inkscape runs on mac and pi.

Q: The manual says the maximum safety time cutoff is 300 mins. Can this be over-ridden for Pb batteries, which often need 6-12hrs? Otherwise this unit is useless for Pb batteries.

jmltoys Just got min yesterday and I wanted to cycle some nicads at a 10 hour rate so I had the same concern. Mine was set to 150 minutes and disabled. There is a time setting and a enable/disable check box to use the timer. so we can use it for longer times than 300 minutes for low rates or Pb batteries.

I have had it a few weeks now and I have engraved and cut cardboard with the 2.5 watt laser. I have also engraved cedar. A few things I wished I had read in other reviews: 1) for software you can use inkscape with the J Tech pluggin. Google those for instructions and tutorials. inkscape guns on the Raspberry Pi or Mac, so you don't need to be stuck with a PC. 2) You can also drive it with bCNC (after you create a code file) I needed to make a slight tweak to bCNC. My current setup is the eleksmaker connected to a raspberry pi (with the banggood touch screen case) that boots into bCNC. I can then scp my code file to it over the wifi and control it from he touch screen leaving my other computers free.
